The community both in Japan and overseas gave their two bits here and there about ZUN’s reaction to the Maikaze anime being released this C75. It’s big buzz to be sure, and there are mixed reactions all around. Personally, I think ZUN’s entitled to do what he wants to with Touhou in general even as far as setting some basic guidelines. I think he deserves that much respect considering he’s not really making any profit from the series, and that he really has no qualms about other people making doujin work based off the series. From what I understand, the line is drawn so that confusion about where Touhou came from, what it is about, the canon (for lack of a better word) continnium of the series, and the characters’ true nature are not confused by a popular media due to high profile names or anything else.
