For the last few days, I went to A-Kon in Dallas to hopefully meet up with Halbarad and hang out during the con. Due to circumstances, Hal couldn’t come at the last minute. Also, I couldn’t hit up any of the main events due to seating capacities reaching full before my group could get there, so I mostly hung out in the dealers’ room and took pictures of cosplayers.
The loot I got at A-Kon is what you see above. It did occur to me before I bought the games whether or not it would have been more expensive to them from the dealers’ room or to get them from paletweb. The games were there right in front of me, so I just went for it especially since Scarlet Weather Rhapsody was also there considering it was released just the weekend before. I got one of the three available copies which ran for about $45 (50% markup compared to palet). Total, the games cost about $163 which is probably a ripoff even when you add shipping and handling buying online. Lesson learned. I’ll grab the others when SSiB Tankabon 2 comes out.
As for cosplay, Touhou cosplay was scarce in the sea of Bleach and Naruto that was prevalent in the con (as well as many other cons). A member of shrinemaiden.org (emka) was there and cosplayed Mokou and Suwako on different days. When I took the picture of her Mokou cosplay, I was surprised to see that it was the same Mokou from Sakura con (I wasn’t there, but pictures travel the internet). Tewi was with emka on the 2nd day of the con which was pretty neat, and I did take a picture with emka. It didn’t turn out so well since I was gonna tell something to a friend that was taking the picture which made me with a weird expression. So yeah…no one is gonna see that picture. emka mentioned that she was going to do a Reisen cosplay earlier today, but I couldn’t see it since I had to check out of the hotel and go back home. Sorry for not making it, and I’ll try to buy something next time if I see your booth again! (>_<)
There was a Shikieki crossplay, but I won’t go into that.
All in all, it was a pretty decent con. The first time con goers in my group enjoyed just taking pictures of everyone else which almost became like a scavenger hunt for them. Wished there was more seating for their main events so that the group could see something else. Anyway, maybe next time and at a different con.
For other cosplay pictures, check here. Note that any yellowing is mainly caused by the camera.

At a recent con I went to, I saw EoSD for sale and contemplated buying it, although it was a bit overpriced. Later I decided to buy it anyways but it was sold out…
