Gensokyo.org RPG

Remember that RPG project I mentioned before? It seems that Wong didn’t like RPG Maker VX much, so we’ll be using RPG Maker XP for the demo and the real thing. However…I’m afraid I got him sidetracked with a third project that was meant as a tutorial on how to use RPG Maker in general, and that pushed back the real demo a bit >_<;;

In any case, here are some screenshots of that tutorial RPG and the game itself. Have fun with it, and remember, there was no planning involved whatsoever ^_^;

Notes: All characters in this RPG tutorial are purely fictional. Any resemblance to real persons are completely coincidental. Also, game balance is definitely not observed.

Brain Test

For those expecting a mahjong post from last Friday, there was no mahjong that day since people were going home for Spring Break. There won’t be one this week either because of that, and it’d be a little sac religious to play a gambling game on Good Friday. That’s more of a cultural thing personally, but respecting it at the least.

On another note, Pilpsie linked a program in the channel that gauges a person’s left brain/right brain activity as well as their auditory/visual perceptions. We mostly did it out of curiosity and got some interesting results. Link and results following: http://www.rcw.bc.ca/test/Brain.exe

Stupid Font Tricks and Mahjong Log #6

I was messing around with RPG Maker VX again a little bit last night after the mahjong game, and decided to try out some scanlating fonts to see how they’d look in it. Most of them looked fairly decent, but SFX fonts don’t hold up well. The following are some of the notable ones:

Aquafont Komika Display

ZUN

I’m gonna check and see how damage formula’s work next. My partner in crime knows the shortcut, but I’m more about the guts in this situation.

Anyway, the rest of the post contains the mahjong log using the Extra Dora rule.

School, Scanlation, and RPG Maker

Truth be told, this is probably my worst semester of college yet. One test after another, I’ve been getting less than acceptable grades consistently. I’m not sure what’s wrong since the material isn’t really that hard (physics 2, physical chem, molecular biology, though biochem is hard). Maybe I’m just not retaining the material like I used to, or maybe I’m just not reading the questions carefully. Either way, it’s disheartening which makes me wonder if I can continue to edit the doujins that have been piling up in our backlog. Well, an ounce of study is an ounce of prevention, so we’ll see for now.

In other news, I’m helping out with an RPG Maker project. I can’t say what it’s about exactly, but you can take a guess. To be of more use in other areas besides development, I’m trying to learn some stuff about the program which in this case is RPG Maker VX. So far, all I’ve really learned is how to touch up images and enhance them visually. Heh, doesn’t sound too different from what I already do. Anyway, samples follow which are not part of the project:

Crazy Weather

Just a few days ago, it was nice and warm. Last night, it suddenly rained and hailed. This afternoon, it snowed. I’m not sure if this part of global warming or whatnot, but the weather itself has been crazy around here since Fall 2006 having more mood swings than a woman during PMS. Well…maybe a little better than that…

Anyway, physics lab was more or less canceled except for the fact that we had to stay and watch a documentary about Oppenheimer, the guy who developed the atomic bomb. It wasn’t bad, but there were better things to do during that time like sketch.

The sketch itself has a lot of flaws that I really want to work on such as eye placement at an angle, hands and feet, and just plain overall anatomy. Also I’ve been told that Patchy really doesn’t have a muffler? Hmm…I do like alternate clothing for what I’ve got planned which does involve clothes with less coverage, so I need to work on that also.
